1. Driver Requirements & Identification

• Age Limits: The standard minimum age to rent a vehicle is typically 25, though it can be as low as 18 or 21 in many locations. Drivers under 25 are usually subject to a daily "young driver surcharge".

• License: All drivers must present a valid, unexpired driver's license held for a specified minimum period (often at least 1 year). International rentals may require an International Driving Permit (IDP) depending on the origin country of the license.

• Payment Method: An Avis-accepted credit card, charge card, or debit card in the primary driver's name must be presented at the time of rental for security authorization/deposit.

2. Rental Period & Returns

• Duration: Rental agreements are structured around specific timeframes. Failing to return the vehicle on time or contacting Avis to extend the period can result in extra daily rates and penalty charges.

• Vehicle Condition: You are responsible for returning the vehicle in the same condition it was received, normal wear and tear excepted. Smoking is strictly prohibited in Avis fleet vehicles, and cleaning fees apply if violated.

• Fuel Policy: Vehicles must typically be returned with the same amount of fuel as when picked up, or you will be subject to refueling service charges.

3. Prepayments and Cancellations (Pay Now vs. Pay Later)

• Pay Now Bookings: If you choose to prepay online, you are purchasing a voucher through Avis's financial entities. Canceling on the same day usually incurs no fee. Cancellations made up to a few days before the collection date may incur a processing/cancellation fee, while late cancellations or "no-shows" often forfeit the full prepayment amount.

• Pay Later Bookings: Standard reservations where payment is made at the counter generally follow local supplier cancellation rules, which are more flexible.
